About the role
As a Compliance and Ethics Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the firm’s Anti-Money Laundering ("AML") sanctions and other compliance programs in multiple offices across the firm. Other key responsibilities include:
- Conducting research on client and non-client parties in potential new matters to screen for matches against sanctions lists and lists of Politically Exposed Persons; overseeing and preparing diligence records for the escalation, review, and resolution of potentially positive findings
- Conducting research on client and non-client parties in potential new matters to screen for adverse findings (including negative news) that present reputational, business and/or other risk to the Firm; overseeing and preparing diligence records for the escalation, review, and resolution of potentially adverse findings
- Assisting with the Firm’s sanctions compliance program, including the screening of client, non-client party, vendor, and vendor beneficiary bank names against sanctions lists and the screening of newly-sanctioned names against names in the Firm’s conflicts and vendor databases
- Assisting with the Client Due Diligence and Know Your Client (“KYC”) document collection and refresh processes, including responding to questions from lawyers and secretaries in multiple offices across the Firm regarding KYC documentation requirements and status of KYC documentation collection
- Supporting project requests from the conflicts team, Ethics Committee, Client Intake Committee, the Deputy General Counsel, and others
About you

- Exhibit an advanced ability to perceive and analyze problems and develop alternative strategies to solve them
- Display well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interface with lawyers, management, support staff, and outside contacts
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
And have:
- A Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant compliance experience, including research functions, or related law firm experience
Compensation & Benefits
Successful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also receive a generous and competitive total compensation package. The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $65,000 and represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and location. Discretionary bonuses may be awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance — and profit-sharing partnership contributions to 401(k) accounts may be given based on firm performance.
