Job Summary

THE POSITION: This position is Foster Youth Services grant budget that is a continual renewal every 3 years. The California Education Code (EC) regarding the Foster Youth Services Coordinating (FYSC) Program (2015) can be accessed on the California Law Web page at http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201520160AB854. The pertinent sections are 42920 through 42927. The Coordinator III, FYSCP Unit, is in compliance with the roles and responsibilities outlined in Education Code Section 42921(e). The position requires specialized subject matter expertise in operating grant funded programs, foster youth educational needs, and strategies to improve education outcomes as well as extensive, directly related and progressive experience in the areas of Differentiated Assistance, student discipline, laws relating to minors, interdistrict and expulsion appeals, custody, residency, student records, enrollment, student and parent rights support, special education and section 504 discipline, and the School Attendance Review Board.

Requirements / Qualifications


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Any combination of education and experience that would be likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Five or more years of comprehensive, directly related and progressive experience, including at least three years of administrative experience in the specified field, particularly in the area of foster youth services. Education: A Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (Must attach a detailed certification/credential with document number to application. - Internal and external applicants, please provide a copy of each credential document as it appears on the California Teaching Credential website with the document number on it.): (1) Possess and maintain a valid California Administrative Services Credential. (2) Possess and maintain a valid K-12 California Teaching or Pupil Personnel Services Credential.
