Howard County Community Clinic is currently hiring in Big Spring, _ TEXAS _for a Dental Assistant with Orthopedic experience. This position is Monday-Friday. No evenings or weekends.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide chair side assistance to the dentist and hygienist as directed.
  • Seats and prepares patients and necessary materials for appropriate treatment in an accurate, neat, and timely manner.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes indicated instruments and equipment according to acceptable infection control guidelines.
  • Assists in entering information on dental charts, records and schedules in an accurate, neat and timely manner.
  • Provide needed basic maintenance procedures for indicated equipment.
  • Maintain record of inventory of supplies and assist in ordering supplies to ensure sufficient inventory is maintained.
  • Organize supplies and equipment in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Takes and develops dental radiographs as instructed by dentist.
  • Sets up and restocks cubicle work areas.
  • Attends all dental staff meetings and participates in the health center's Performance Improvement program.
  • Maintain positive and professional attitude toward other employees and staff.
  • Recognize own role in marketing of clinic services by developing positive relations with the public in general.
  • Participates in the health center’s performance improvement activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Performs other necessary duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Chief Executive Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduation and familiar with dental assisting techniques.
  • Certified by State Board to take radiographs within 1 year of employment.
  • Knowledge of basic dental instruments, equipment and dental materials.
  • Knowledge of basic dental terminology.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
  • The ability to relate with warmth and effectiveness to the patients and other dental care providers of the health center
  • Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques. PREFERRED
  • Sufficient experience and/or education to carry out the duties of this position.
  • Bilingual is a plus!
