Job Summary
The position will observe and accompany inmates inside the jail and related care and record keeping requirements. Work involves exercising tact, firmness, sound judgment and decisiveness in handling routine and emergency situations. Duties include processing incoming prisoners, completing paperwork, taking photographs, searching prisoners, obtaining, and securing inmates’ personal property, assigning and escorting inmates to proper holding facilities, and advising inmates of jail rules and regulations. Arrange contacts by visits or telephone calls between inmates and relatives. Control doors and other devices to ensure proper safety and security of jail occupants. Transport inmates to court, other prisons, medical visits, and other locations.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to inmate sentencing, pre-trail conditions and release. The successful candidate will have graduated from high school supplemented by jail certification and training.
Salary
Salary Depends on Qualifications:
- Detention Officer - $39,917
- Senior Detention Officer- $41,912
- Master Detention Officer- $44,009
