Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION: The Club is a private yacht club facility which services individuals and families looking for recreational opportunities and multiple food and beverage facilities.


The Director of Member Relations promotes The St. Petersburg Yacht Club and works in tandem with the membership committee attracting and managing the membership recruiting process. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, answering office phones, touring the property with interested individuals or families and being knowledgeable about all programs offered as well as the skill set and background of our staff.


QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • College degree or equivalent experience/training
  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language.
  • Ability to use the various computer software programs required for the successful performance of the sales tasks, including Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and the Jonas back office system, including the CRM system.
  • Knowledgeable of all Social Media platforms and support the marketing efforts for the Club.
  • Must be able to work Tuesday through Saturday.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Become thoroughly familiar with the club amenities, pricing structure, junior and adult programming and various facilities in order to best promote the membership and use of The St Petersburg Yacht Club.
  • Represent the Club in promoting and contacting personnel responsible for or having input in fulfilling a club membership, developing information related to their individual/family recreational interests and generally promoting the Club as the facility best suited to meet their particular requirements.
  • Promote the Club in arranging and conducting site tours with key contacts, as well as "off site" visits to potential individual and corporate club members.
  • Interface with the Club General Manager and all departmental managers and staff to ensure all added value benefits of club membership are addressed.
  • Be informed and stay ahead of trends in the Club Industry as well as Social Media.
  • Support in the club's marketing effort through targeted mailings, newsletter promotions, weekly email communications and approved membership promotions throughout the year.
  • Promote the Club’s identity within the St Petersburg area by responding promptly to telephone membership information requests, site visits and valuable member recognition.
  • Maintain open communication with all club departments in an effort to better serve potential club members as well as maintain consistency in the Club’s management policy and service philosophy.
  • Support sales levels necessary to reach monthly, quarterly and year-end goals.
  • Adhere to the policies of the Club as set forth in the Employee Handbook and report any observed violations to Human Resources.
  • Maintain the highest level of employee/member relations.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all Departments.
  • Must be flexible and able to accommodate a schedule requiring evenings and weekends.
  • Support all immediate and planned needs of all club office personnel, which includes tasks such as answering the phone, assisting with catering events & regattas, using available systems to answer members' questions, providing tours for interested members, delivering club information to interested parties in St Petersburg, in person member questions, etc.
  • Accurately manage the Jonas and CRM membership data.
  • Complete the membership onboarding process including credit checks, facilitating potential member interviews, preparing acceptance letters, welcoming process, follow-up at 30/60/90 days.
  • Accurately report weekly and monthly membership numbers to the membership committee (monthly) and accounting (weekly). Accurately prepare month end Excel spreadsheets within three days of closing for distribution.
  • Support the compilation of the monthly Smooth Sailing membership newsletter.
  • Review the membership status and rate plans of members and update as appropriate (minimally annually for Intermediates, Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus, Non-Resident, and Absentee).
  • Plan Quarterly or Semi-Annual Member receptions, including Quarterly New Member’s Reception, Quarterly or Semi-Annual Prospective Member’s Reception, Commodore’s Ball, Gold & Platinum Party, Past Commodore’s Dinner, and any other events deemed appropriate.
  • Attend Membership Meeting Monthly, and any other meetings as deemed appropriate by the General Manager (Exec, Board, Annual Meeting)
  • Maintain the Jonas CRM and utilize the program to promote the Membership Process
