We will count on you to:

Provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for local operations. As a member of the Wisconsin leadership team, work closely with operations, sales, accounting/finance, IT and human resource leaders to achieve best practice targets in the areas of revenue growth, operational efficiency, acquisition execution and legal/compliance matters as well as project leadership. Working in a team environment, the Director, Operations creates accountability for execution of key initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operational Leadership And Execution
  • Serve as a trusted business partner to the CEO and senior leadership team as well as the MMA UMW regional COO; assess the organizational and operational performance against the agency’s long-term strategy
  • Participate as a member of the leadership team and contribute to key decisions pertaining to annual objectives and strategic initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and improve quality, quantify impact, prioritize initiatives, and develop execution plans
  • Proactively monitor and assess industry and competition to ensure operational capabilities position the agency to compete and respond to change
  • Collaborate with agency leaders to identify best practices and execute organization-wide initiatives
  • Participate in annual budget process to reflect growth goals and business conditions and support strategic initiatives
  • Support MMA’s continued growth through thought leadership and innovation to always raise the bar, improve client retention, and search out new growth and operational efficiency strategies
  • Serve as a partner, mentor and collaborator throughout the organization
  • Ensure alignment with priorities and plans across the organization
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality

  • Internal Business Operations
  • Oversee execution of agency-wide programs and initiatives impacting multiple departments
  • Manage organizational risk by ensuring MMA Professional, Compliance and Transparency Standards are met
  • Participate in the acquisitions process by working with the agency CEO and regional COO to assist in diligence, onboarding and integration
  • Participate on monthly regional operations calls and meetings
  • Collaborate with other MMA operations leaders to share best practices

  • Talent Management And Colleague Engagement
  • Work collaboratively with the local leadership team and HR partners to ensure utilization of talent-related best practices and tools
  • Ensure optimal resource allocation – demand and skill matching – and expense management aligned with strategic intent
  • Responsible for performance management and career development for direct reports, including succession planning activities
  • Articulate, demonstrate and hold colleagues accountable for demonstration of company values
  • Facilitate and support a culture of growth

  • Client Experience
  • Oversee execution of agency-wide programs and initiatives impacting client experience

  • Additional Responsibilities Necessary To Successfully Complete Role

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • 10+ year’s generalist experience including strong knowledge of insurance agency operations, policies and practices.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to lead others.
  • Must be detailed with excellent organizational, project planning and management skills
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to take an idea and transform it into a logical, physical and scalable solution.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Ability to present confidently and effectively and think creatively by drawing on prior knowledge, experience and problem solving skills in order to develop successful solutions.
  • Ability to multitask, organize projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • A team player, with the ability to build and cultivate superior client service while maintaining positive relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Office environment.
  • Significant use of computer applications and ability to communicate with clients and peers.
  • Travel may be required including an overnight stay.
  • Extended work hours required on occasion.
  • Ability to meet tight time constraints.
