Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Floor Tech/Housekeeper to join our team!


JOB SUMMARY:

The Floor Tech Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning and maintaining floor surfaces in assigned areas. The position helps assure a safe, sanitary, and pleasant environment for patients, staff and visitors of Mountain View Hospital. Transports or disposes of items required by the position assignment. Maintains documentation as required. Demonstrates positive support for Departmental and Hospital Mission and Goal requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleans and maintains infection control standards of floor surfaces of assigned areas
  • Provides specialty, terminal, project and checkout cleaning as required.
  • Handles chemical and waste according to department procedures, manufacturer directions and general safety practices.
  • Promotes and supports all standards of quality customer service.
  • Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.
  • Follows proper procedures for Category I tasks (Standard Precautions for Infection Control).
  • Maintains general cleanliness of all areas assigned to:
    • “Dry” tasks: dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, emptying trash, replacing paper towels, toilet paper, etc., and other duties.
    • “Wet” tasks: disinfecting equipment, beds and gurneys, mopping, cleaning porcelain fixtures (sinks, toilets, etc.), cleaning glass windows, doors and mirrors and other duties.
    • Stocking clean linen supply carts and collecting dirty linen.
    • Stocking housekeeping closets and maintaining them in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Maintains all housekeeping equipment and supplies in proper condition taking care to prevent damage. Reports any malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
  • Is able to perform housekeeping functions in all departments as needed, regardless of primary assignment.
  • Handles trash appropriately in appropriate bags and follows established procedures.
  • Maintains a responsible attitude toward appropriate and efficient performance as an employee of the facility as evidenced by team work and attitude.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility for fulfilling assignments/tasks effectively and completely.
  • Continually strives to work in the most cost-efficient manner possible.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to comply with assignments from Department manager or supervisor with regard to hours worked and assignments made.
  • Always extends courtesy and an attitude of cooperation while communicating with others.
  • Supports facility policy and assists in the process of policy change.
  • Demonstrates a loyalty to the philosophy, policies and practices of the facility.
  • Performs duties as assigned with specific attention to the cleaning procedures of that individual department.

Education/Certification: High School graduate or equivalent.


Experience:
Job experience and job history supporting the essential job function requirements a plus, especially with floor maintenance equipment.


Equipment/Technology:
Must be able to operate a floor buffer and a floor extractor.

Able to follow written and oral directions to an understanding level such that the hazards presented from the chemical, waste and infection control exposures are understood.


Interpersonal:
Able to communicate with patients, staff and supervisors in an effective manner.


Performance:
Ability to perform job requirements with minimal supervision. Demonstrated skill area abilities. Demonstrated ‘team player’ performance. Able to reason and work under pressure.
