Half an hour away from beautiful downtown Washington, DC, Reid Temple Christian Academy is located in a beautiful suburban community in Prince George’s County Maryland. Founded in 2005, RTCA is iconic as a unique ministry of the prestigious Reid Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church.

This academically high-performing day school has a history of preparing students at an above-grade-level pace to foster success at exceptional levels to produce students of strong character and academic excellence.

Reid Temple Christian Academy, grades Pre-K to 8, has a legacy of long-serving staff, committed leadership, and knowledgeable governance. Finances are supported through tuition and there is a strong desire to continue to grow enrollment.

Together with the school leadership and Board of Directors, they are seeking a new head of school for July 2023 who would be committed to leading RTCA to higher levels of excellence, creating an atmosphere of joy, and establishing a strong community of teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will be:

1. Committed to a Christian, values-based educational philosophy

2. An educator who is a current Head/Principal, Assistant Head, or Academic Dean in a private school environment is preferred

3. A demonstrated leader of faculty and staff

4. Able to develop a culture of caring, compassion, and support in an environment that values each student's gifts and challenges.

5. A team builder who has successfully integrated policies and protocols into a diverse community of stakeholders

6. Knowledgeable in delivering an advanced academic program

7. A demonstrated ability to foster positive interaction with parents

Experience as an administrator and educator in early childhood, elementary, and middle school private education is preferred. The chosen Candidate will be a communicator, and collaborator, have highly developed people skills, and be able to effectively navigate within various stakeholders’ interests. Some availability as of spring 2023 will be advantageous.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Credentials will be reviewed as they are received.
