We are looking for an expereinced Human Resources Business Partner to join Oxford Instruments at our Asylum Research office in Santa Barbara! The HRBP provides broad, hands-on HR support and leadership for our 100-person global high tech manufacturing business. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to join a collaborative and technical team, to provide HR expertise in a role with freedom and autonomy to help grow the company while retaining the fun, creative culture through this period of change. You will be an HR-department-of-one managing various aspects of HR (performance reviews, benefits, employee relations, etc.) with support from colleagues in other business units and at our corporate headquarters. The right person will understand our unique culture and have the ability to connect in a meaningful way with employees at all levels of the organization.

The Role
Build strong working relationships with business leaders and managers in order to connect people to the business strategy, priorities and to each other. Provide objective advice and challenge to the senior leaders
Support the development of a culture where people are engaged, are provided with support and clarity, are developed and feel they are fairly treated. Work with Director colleagues to create a positive environment where Asylum colleagues feel like ‘one team’
Support employee two-way communications processes as required e.g. cascades, Sharepoint to ensure employees are well informed about business and HR activities/issues and have an opportunity to feed up their suggestions and concerns
Advise and provide objective professional operational support on HR matters e.g. development, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee relations, statutory and contractual compliance, communications, consultation and attendance management. Lead on the design and development of commission schemes to ensure that they drive the right behaviours aligned to delivery of business targets.
Support the business through organisational and cultural change. Ensure that people are listened to, engaged and directed as the organisation and culture changes and develops
Provide a full range of support and assistance for all recruitment and selection activities, including; working with managers to prepare draft role profiles and people specifications, managing interview schedules, conducting interviews as required, preparing offers and contracts, arranging and delivering staff on-boarding sessions
Build manager capability and skills to ensure that people managers are aware of, and follow, HR policies and relevant employment law. Maintain local HR policies and contribute to the development of relevant Oxford Instruments Group-wide and regional policies and procedures, ensuring that OI values are embedded and lived on a day to day basis
Identify potential people and development issues at an early stage. Support and coach people managers to enable their people and teams to reach their full potential
Analyse and report on relevant HR metrics/other HR management information ensuring that timely decisions are made and implemented
Assist people managers to ensure that development and career plans are in place for every employee, supporting them to identify individual training needs. Support the administration and recording of training undertaken, including training on specific technical/product issues and follow up to training/learning. Ensure that talent is recognised and developed
Support the HR administration processes for the business including updating and maintaining the HR information system (Gem), administration of payroll and benefits and maintenance of employee files and records as required
Work closely with HR colleagues across the US and take a "One OI" approach in terms of introducing changes and policy interpretations. Also learn and deploy the OI tools and processes available.
Assist with the annual global salary review as required, obtaining market data etc. Support and assist with commission and bonus payments process. Provide an information service for people managers with respect to benefits details and options
Undertake project work as required, e.g. policy development, benchmarking HR practices, training design and delivery, HR metrics etc
Maintain professional awareness of developments in the HR field, e.g. employment law, good HR practice, local employment market conditions

The Candidate

Ideal candidates will have:
A degree in HR, business administration, psychology, social sciences or similar relevant field. SHRM or HRCI certification desireable
Proven professional HR experience in a relevant role - specifically supporting a business and culture going through change/growth
Excellent IT skills, particularly excel, word and powerpoint; SAP HRIS and ADP desired but not required
Ability to understand and contribute to design and development of compensation plans including sales commissions with a reasonable amount of complexity
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Proactive, can-do attitude; solution focused
Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships based on trust and respect
Commercial aptitude and focus on business outcomes
Ability to listen, engage and mobilize a range of stakeholders to enable change, move the business forward and build capability
Ability to prioritize high workload volumes, constantly multitasking and juggling competing priorities
Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and confidentiality
Ability to work autonomously

Salary: In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is between $100,000 - $125,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
