Duties and Responsibilities


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for driving the Maintenance Excellence process which includes the establishment, refinement & administration of an effective predictive/preventative maintenance (PPM) program, work order procedures, parts inventory, employee training, manpower scheduling, efficiency improvements, regulatory compliance programs, etc.
  • Develop a culture of “maintenance excellence” to achieve a high degree of proactive maintenance.
  • Develop, implement & control department’s budgets.
  • Recommend equipment modifications or replacement to improve safety, quality or throughput as supported by repair history, Customer Comments, Manufacturers’ data & financial data.
  • Drive the Reliability Engineering function which includes the analytical review & refinement of the PPM program using equipment history, development of a predictive maintenance program, lead the training programs, inventory optimization, and perform engineering analysis to determine the root cause of critical & repetitive equipment failures.
  • Prepare & submit engineering reports. Ensure that proper documentation occurs throughout all maintenance programs and projects.
  • Supervise & coach direct reports in the performance of their duties and provide feedback.
  • Be involved in successor planning of the maintenance staff, identifying efficient, promotable people.
  • Promotes effective communications both within & outside of the site.
  • Acts as the Primary Point of Contact & driving force to restore power during outages.
  • Create & maintain the appropriate engineering records including equipment records & manuals, drawings & diagrams, inspection reports & legal records as required by the appropriate agencies.
  • Work closely with outside agencies, i.e., OSHA, EPA, FDA, etc., to ensure compliance with current regulations.
  • Analyze equipment history to identify failures & effectively address them.
  • Communicate & facilitate the materials, equipment & spare parts standardization & interchangeability program.
  • Manage the parts room for adherence to company policies & ensure availability of necessary parts, elimination of obsolete material, & optimization of stock levels.
  • Remain current on technology as it pertains to the maintenance and engineering aspects of the site.
  • Manage all outside contractors and third-party contractors performing any maintenance or facility work.
  • Champions energy conservation & initiatives.
  • Responsible for operating, maintaining and repairing all aspects of the ammonia system (where applicable).
