The Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of one production location and two warehouses. The Operations Manager will have two direct reports, a production supervisor and a warehouse supervisor; collectively, they will oversee around 20 production and material-handling employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

• Drives a safety culture by protecting employees’ health and safety, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and plant safety rules, providing instruction about safety procedures, and supporting plant safety initiatives as required.
• Manages plant and equipment to provide efficient operations, minimize unplanned downtime, and anticipate and solve problems promptly.
• With the site supervisors, sets schedule of loads to be unloaded, worked and inventoried. Communicates the inbound and outbound schedule daily to staff and management.
• Ensures transportation dispatcher has empty trailers needed for outbound load assignments.
• Ensures outbound loads are loaded accurately by material handlers.
• Ensures the production supervisor and line leads are directing the production and sorting team operations efficiently and accurately to meet production and delivery schedules.
• Ensures staffing needs for all shifts are met.
• Conducts recruiting efforts as required.
• Tracks and maintains relevant performance data. Monitors employee performance and provides training to address safety or productivity issues.
• Maintains accurate physical inventories of all products and is responsible for cycle counting programs and bin consolidation efforts to maximize space.
• Ensures that all housekeeping activities are completed within established guidelines.
• Coordinate all equipment maintenance and repair.
• Provides leadership to maintain and suggest improvements to established lean and continuous improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this role successfully.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations, or Business Management preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of production and warehousing operations experience required.
• Experience interacting with or managing an asset-based transportation operation preferred.
• Fluent in English with good command over writing, managerial skills, and leadership qualities are needed.
• Basic understanding of OSHA, DOT, labor, and other federal regulations.
• Understanding of basic machine operation principles.
• Ability to properly reason and apply common sense understanding to workplace situations to solve problems.
• Requires the ability to set priorities and flexibility in resetting priorities in a changing environment.
• Proficiency with intermediate computer skills, particularly with MS Office Suite.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, primarily to demonstrate proper procedures and processes, the Operations Manager is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and must be able to reach with hands and arms. The Operations Manager must be able to lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
