Product Manager Job at Pure Insurance
About the role:
We are seeking a talented Product Manager to lead multiple products and states and advance our growth and profit objectives. This individual will be responsible for managing several of our largest states, as well as influencing line level strategy and objectives. The Product Manager may have direct reports.
What you’ll do:
- Develop comprehensive strategies at the state or line of business level in order drive the growth while achieving target underwriting margin and delivering the best experience for policyholders.
- Lead state and line analysis to identify market opportunities and trends. Monitor state performance to ensure progress towards strategic objectives.
- Implement new products and features. Maintain and enhance existing products.
- Manage the rate review process, including the proposal, filing and implementation of all pricing and product changes. Demonstrate a solid knowledge of the regulatory environment and build strong relationships with regulators. The process will include detailed presentations to regional counterparts (i.e. underwriting, senior management, sales & marketing), displaying a level of sensitivity and understanding for other functions, and ultimately coming to an agreement that is best for all.
- Act as a product line expert and maintain a thorough knowledge of company product features and benefits as well as industry product trends. Provide subject-matter expertise on key initiatives across multiple groups, including underwriting, sales and marketing, claims, legal and finance.
- Maintain current knowledge of competitor actions, industry developments and Member needs and drive product innovation to meet the needs of PURE’s target market.
- Develop team members within the Product team and across the organization through training and mentorship.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years progressively more responsible work experience in insurance product management, preferably in personal lines P&C. High Net Worth Personal Line Insurance experience preferred, but not required.
- Broad understanding of product, underwriting and distribution and how each impacts the other.
- Superior analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills with an ability to make data-based decisions.
- Specific understanding of actuarial-based indications, including set-up, concepts, mathematical principles, internal vs. external, and state specific nuances.
- Strong relationship, negotiation, influencing and persuasive skills.
- Flexibility and capacity to manage multiple demands in a self-directed manner. High degree of personal organization and time management skills.
- Consultative leadership style, which could include managing direct reports.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Relevant work experience or Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in an analytical field of study such as Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics or Banking.
- Highest level of integrity and honesty.
