SMSI is seeking an entry level Project Coordinator that can assist in coordinating and administering a project from project planning through construction and start-up.

Description:

The Project Coordinator assists and supports the Project Manager, Project Specialist or the established Integrated Project Team (IPT) members to successfully execute a set of project objectives.

Assists in project coordination responsibilities and management, as well as the IPT in coordinating and administering a project from project planning, engineering, execution and procurement through construction and start-up. Participates in communications with managers and the customer to report progress and assist with resolving problems. Participates in planning and works with schedules, forecasts, budgets, parameters, etc., and monitors progress to assure schedules are met and work is performed within budget.

Job Duties:

  • Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Maintains required safety and security training, assures safety and security compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
  • Support the Project Manager and/or IPT to ensure that project work is executed in a safe, cost -effective, and compliant manner while meeting project performance objectives and goals.

  • Participate in detailed assignments, approximately 6-8 months, in Engineering, Project Controls, Acquisition Services Management (ASM), Finance and Accounting (F&A), and Construction Management, to build experience and knowledge in the life cycle of a construction project.

  • Participate in the research and assembly of information or data related to assigned area.
  • Participate in special assignments and administrative studies as assigned.

Education:

  • This position is expected to be entry level into construction related fields. High School diploma required.
