All teachers at Thrive are responsible for assisting with the care, supervision and management of children in accord with the goals and curriculum plan of Thrive Child Care and Family Resource Center. The principal duties of our teachers include: conduct focused observations of children, carry out activities on a daily basis, ensure the safety and well-being of the children, maintain regular communication with parents, and contribute to the effective operation of Thrive Child Care and Family Resource Center.
Additionally, this person should:
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Qualifications are based on education and experience according to Minnesota DHS Licensing’s minimum requirements for child care teachers.
- Possess or successfully complete CPR and First Aid Certification.
Skills and Abilities
· A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.
· Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
· Knowledge of MN Licensing requirements for child care centers (Rule 3).
· Ability to build relationships with families and coworkers and create a dynamic environment where play and learning happens.
· Good communication, problem solving and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude.
· Possess outstanding customer service skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively.
· Must be reliable and flexible to adapt to changes in the program.
· Must be able to manage confidential information.
· Willing to accept supervision to improve work performance.
· Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
· Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
· Ability to use computer to input developmental data.
· Ability to speak, read and write English.
· Ability to pass the state required background check.
