JOB TITLE: QUALITY TECHNICIAN – South Holland

Non-Exempt Position

REPORTS TO: Quality Manager / South Holland Plant Manager

DEPARTMENT: Quality

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for receipt, in-process, and final inspection of materials, assemblies, and products

GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform inspection of materials and assemblies sourced from outside suppliers.
• Perform inspection of in-process and finished products.
• Perform inspection of welded joints of assemblies for conformance with applicable weld standards, blueprints, and work order specifications.
• Document results of inspections.
• Work with others within Quality Department and other departments as necessary to communicate and resolve nonconformances and other quality-related issues.
• Perform inspection of customer-returned and nonconforming materials, determine disposition, and coordinate/perform rework as required
• Work with Customer Service and Accounting Departments to complete processes associated with customer-returned materials
• Conduct ISO 9001 awareness training, internal auditing, and external audit preparation
• Manage tool/equipment calibration

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• 
  High School diploma or acceptable equivalent.
• Vocational education in electromechanical technology or similar preferred.

• 
  Ability to operate various measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
• 1-3 years of quality control experience or similar preferred.
• 1-3 years welding inspection experience preferred.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 or AWS D14.1 preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Mix of sitting/standing/walking 8 hours/day.
• Occasional lifting up to 65 pounds.
• Good eyesight, either natural or corrected.
• Occasional stooping and squatting.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• High mechanical/technical aptitude.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and SharePoint
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to investigate and solve problems.
• Excellent organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage many tasks simultaneously.
• Conduct all interactions with customers, vendors, field sales representatives, and coworkers in a focused, positive, courteous, and respectful manner.
