Service Technician

Polypack, a worldwide leader in end-of-line packaging machinery solutions, is accepting applications for the position of Service Technician based at our Pinellas Park, FL global headquarters.

We are seeking experienced Service Technicians to service our packaging machines onsite and at customer facilities. Candidates should possess a technical degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience and be able to travel frequently.

Polypack designs, manufactures, services, and supports a diverse line of wrapping and packing equipment that utilize standard platforms with modular construction, adapted to specific end-user requirements via customized tooling and change parts.

Established in 1959, Polypack remains family owned with operations in the United States, France, and Mexico.

Job Overview:

Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment at end-of-line testing for pneumatics, PLC controls, electrical circuits, VFDs, and mechanical components. This position requires both working in the factory and traveling for equipment installation, repair, and customer on-site training.

Responsibilities:

  • Debug and test new equipment prior to Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).
  • Prepare detailed service reports daily.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Test for customer.
  • Install and test new equipment and / or upgrades at customer's facility.
  • Train customer's personnel on the operation of Original Equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of Equipment.
  • Travel on short notice and work weekends when necessary.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machinery problems over the phone.
  • Document service calls.
  • Work and exchange information with Engineering and Manufacturing areas.
  • Communicate with different levels of customer’s organization.
  • Build a strong and professional customer-service relationship and become a trusted adviser to customers.
  • Understand and follow safe practices and requirements of safety established by OSHA.
  • Performs other duties, as required.

Competencies:

  • Great mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of technical blueprints: mechanical and electrical.
  • Strong mechanical & technical background with experience with pneumatics, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical circuits. Preferably on packaging equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose problems with equipment, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Experienced at performing FAT/VAT and filling documentation related to it.
  • Great communication skills to work with customers.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision when on job sites.
  • Able to execute tasks in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • Capable of travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Skilled in the use of micrometers, calipers, multimeter, and inspection devices.
  • Proficient on metric system.
  • Microsoft Applications – Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Office 365.

Requirements:

  • Technical degree in Maintenance, Mechatronics, PLC or related field of study.
  • 5+ years work experience in related field (proven work experience may substitute for degree).
  • Must have or be able to obtain Passport and Visas for international travel.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
