Job Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, serves as manager at the Public Health Laboratory in Waycross, GA. Acts as general supervisor as defined by the 1988 Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

  • Supervises laboratory personnel.
  • Ensures staff competencies are documented and up to date.
  • Reviews laboratory testing data and reports for validity and accuracy.
  • Reviews and revises laboratory procedure manuals.
  • Manages customer service and inventory.
  • Performs high complexity testing.
  • Implements and ensures compliance with DPH and GPHL Quality Assurance procedures and policies.
  • Participates in lab audits and surveys.
  • Employs and participates in workforce development activities.
  • Oversees compliance with biosafety and security procedures.
  • Prepares for and responds to emergency events.
  • Adheres to HIPPA safety and security policies.

Bachelor's degree in a hard science from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting OR Bachelor's degree in any related discipline from an accredited college or university AND Ten years of related experience, Seven years of which in a leadership/administrative role OR Two years of experience required at the lower level Sr. Mgr, Health Laboratory (LSM011) or position equivalent. Note: Must meet state clinical laboratory licensure personnel requirements as "technologist" and federal (CLIA '88) requirement for "high complexity" technical supervisor.
