The Role

The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of all Shoe Palace and JD Sports Group Fashion Retail construction projects in North America. Overseeing the day-to-day management of new stores and acquisition projects to strict deadlines to support the group expansion program in North America. This role focuses on driving the project delivery of all fit out and construction projects and includes cost & budget management via a team of in-house PM’s. This person will take on the responsibility of managing an internal Project Management Team ensuring that they effectively manage the end to end project cycle of new stores, to program and to highest standards. This includes managing and coordinating the efforts of team members, internal departments and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan & on budget. The role demands direct management of projects based on the demands and volumes that the business presents.   • Responsible for training, educating, developing & monitoring individual & team performance.
  • Assists & supports the in-house QS Team with driving cost savings as well as the need to develop, monitor and control the overall budget for all projects.
  • Ensures best practice and health and safety is always adhered to.
  • Works closely and supports the wider Project Team delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements, documentation and presentations where appropriate.
  • Strives for excellence in all Shoe Palace/JD processes within the project & design team, continually reviewing and developing improvements.
  • Proactively manages change in project scope, identifying potential risks and creating contingency plans as required.
  • Coaches, mentors, motivates and supervises project team members and contractors encouraging them to take positive action and assume accountability for their assigned work.
  • This role will require close & clear communication into the Group Project Manager for North America to understand the group strategies and all elements of the project brief.
  • Additional duties and projects as required

Experience and Skills:

  • Full knowledge and experience in construction law and the shop fit industry including various legislation processes across North America ensuring that the Project Managers deliver to the highest standards.
  • Experience delivering retail shopfit projects while being able to manage multiple, simultaneous projects keeping them on budget and delivering them on time & to the highest standard.
  • Excellent communication & influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders and across departments.
  • Numerate and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adjust to real time situations and adapt accordingly.
  • Self-motivated and driven but can work as part of a team.
  • Role is field based with travel throughout North America – this may require overnight stays.

Required Education and/or Experience

Relevant bachelor’s degree or Project Management qualification.

Proficient IT skills including Microsoft / Google (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
