Summary/Objective:
This position requires knowledge of both bookkeeping and accounting, as well as strong computer skills. The Staff Accountant is responsible helping produce monthly financial statements along with tackling a variety ongoing accounting projects. The ideal candidate must have Accounts Receivable experience, be detail-oriented, be a motivated and fast learner working well under pressure, meet hard deadlines, and have excellent communication and presentation skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements
- Assist with Balance Sheet monthly reconciliations
- Reviews general ledger and posts journal entries
- Assist with Accounts Receivable month end duties
- Conducts research on any outstanding or unexplained items
- Responds to accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Crosstrain in other accounting functions (potentially to include Accounts Payable, Payroll and financial analysis)
Education/ Experience/Qualifications:
- Associates' degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
- Requires (2) to (4) years related experience in accounting preferred
- Experience with high volume transactions
- Bank Reconciliation experience
- AP/AR experience
- GL experience
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and enerally accepted accounting principles
- Working knowledge of Great Plains accounting software
- Advanced level Excel experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Requires strong technical and analytical understanding of accounting principle
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with staff and management.
- Must be computer literate and be familiar with most Microsoft products and network components
- Detail oriented and organized in work
