SUMMARY:
Assists the program director with oversight of the management, operations and resources of a Department of Defense (DoD) sponsored STARBASE program designed to provide elementary school 5th grade students stimulating "hands on" instruction in science, technology, engineering and mathematics while providing STEM-based classroom instruction to 5th grade students at Fort Polk. Ensures a safe, orderly and premier DoD STEM program.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a STEM field or education.
2. At least 3 years of experience in elementary education or program management/supervisory preferred.
3. Valid Teaching Certificate, preferred.
4. Ability to assist with development, conduction and management of an education and training program.
5. Knowledge and skill in the science, technology, engineering, and math education (STEM) field.
6. Ability to recognize and evaluate effective teaching practices and classroom management skills; analyze task procedures and learning processes, develop curriculum, training evaluations in compliance with federal and state educational requirements and content standards.
7. Possess classroom management skills that foster a rich, inspiring learning environment and are highly adaptable to the unique aspects of classroom groups and individual students.
8. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities while maintaining a positive, effective, and professional approach.
9. Skill and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
10. Proficient with office technology software, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Easily adaptable and capable of learning new technological systems and software quickly.
11. Excellent organizational, administrative, problem-solving, leadership, and conflict-resolution abilities.
12. Ability to analyze data to make decisions.
13. Ability to supervise and work as a team member.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1. Coordinates with the director to plan, organize, and conduct a comprehensive program, integrating a variety of resources.
2. Coordinates with director to develop, implement, and amend internal controls, policies, procedures, and regulations to comply with program requirements and program administration.
3. Coordinates with director and staff to ensure the DoD STARBASE Program meets operations requirements.
4. Assists director and staff in the implementation and integration of approved curriculum, ensuring delivery and compliance with current policies.
5. Serves as an instructor for classes located at appointed site.
6. Implement and instruct all STARBASE lessons in compliance with DoD STARBASE Instructions, performing in a manner that inspires students and creates memorable, positive learning experiences.
7. Assists the director with filling staff vacancies, including advertising, selection of candidates, conducting and/or directing interviews, and providing offers of employment.
8. Assists the director with training of personnel, including instructors.
9. Assists the director with supervision of program personnel, volunteers and participants as needed.
10. Coordinates with director and staff to review data, assessments, and surveys in order to establish standards, monitor progress, and foster continuous growth of program.
11. Assists the director in facilitating research and findings for program improvement initiatives, including implementation timeline for initiatives; evaluate and assess impact/outcome of initiatives.
12. Assists with development of program promotional materials.
13. Assists director in maintaining control and inventory of equipment and supplies purchased with DoD STARBASE Program funds.
14. Assists director with maintaining fiscal year budgets, expenditure tracking, and timely reporting.
15. Maintains a strong working relationship with program staff, including teachers, administrative assistants, contract employees, volunteers and military personnel assigned to additional duties in support of STARBASE.
16. Works closely with (insert supervisor here), as well as appropriate administration and staff at LSUA to ensure university policies and procedures are followed.
17. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
