Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor

South Campus Therapeutic Day School is seeking a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor for a full-time position within our school in Palatine, IL. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team, which includes a competitive salary and benefits, daytime hours, no on-call duties, free organic lunch daily and a school holiday schedule.

South Campus is a therapeutic day school located in Palatine providing academic and therapeutic services for children ages 6-21 with emotional and behavioral challenges. Our school utilizes educational, therapeutic, family and community connections to promote academic achievement and personal/emotional growth. Our staff is fully committed to helping each student make progress and develop the skills necessary to succeed at their public school and in their adult life. The environment is based in a positive nurturing model and a strength-based approach where students receive a variety of related services such as personal development therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, art therapy, substance use counseling, and nursing services.

The position requires the candidate to have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher and an Illinois State license as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or higher licensure (LPC, LSW, LCPC, LCSW).

Some duties include:

Complete comprehensive assessments of students’ substance use history and develop treatment recommendations

Provide individual therapy to youth with substance use issues or family issues stemming from substance use issues

Conduct group therapy for classrooms or pull out groups regarding health/substance/recovery related topics

Collaborate with families and/or conduct family therapy for students regarding substance use/recovery

Consult and collaborate with the students’ teams regarding treatment planning and functioning in the school environment

Prepare for, attend, and present treatment summaries and impressions at student IEP meetings with the multidisciplinary team

Work closely with members of the school administration regarding student treatment

Attend on site trainings with and case presentations by the clinical team

Maintain clinical files: treatment plans, clinical goals, progress notes, etc

Promote and support equity and inclusion for all staff, students and families throughout direct service delivery and consultation with our multidisciplinary team members and community partners

Other duties/responsibilities assigned by an administrator
