ABOUT THE ROLE

Responsible for tax work, interfacing with clients and advisors as we prepare and comment on clients tax inquiries, preparation and review of common fund accounting methodology, and performing oversight into the IRA and Pension accounts. This role is both client facing and internally focused.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Tax Review

  • Monthly review of account data in FIS for any missing client data as it relates to annual Form 1099 returns and other tax documents
  • Work with Client Service and Operations teams to make corrections as necessary

Commingled Fund Accounting Records

  • Quarterly preparation of Common Fund Summary for production of annual Form K-1 tax reporting for common trust fund participants (PT funds)
  • Preparation for annual Form 5500 reporting supporting schedules for collective investment funds (EB funds)
  • Prepare, validate, and reconcile common fund Roll Forward files quarterly
  • Tax Form Preparation & Coordination with third party vendors including but not limited to Form 1099 DIOB Form K-1 and Form 5500
  • Review of tax forms prepared for Westwood by third party vendors prior to issuing to clients
  • Handling and responding to all client and advisor requests as it relates to Westwood delivered tax documents
  • Other duties in support of Trust Operations and Client Service as required

IRA/EB Account Oversight

  • Serve as the lead subject matter expert for Retirement Plans
  • Responsible for IRA and Retirement Plan Compliance, monitoring and client reporting (1099Rs, 5498s, Death Claim processing)
  • Oversight of IRA Distribution processing, review and approve transactions and ensure accuracy for 1099R reporting
  • Other duties in support of Trust Operations and Client Service as required

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Minimum Education / Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field
  • 5+ years equivalent experience in Trust Accounting or Investment Management
  • years of experience with at least 4 years work experience as a CPA
  • Experience in trust accounting is preferred but not mandatory.
