The Department of Corrections is seeking highly motivated and qualified individual for a full time non-permanent assignment Dental Assistant position at Washington Correction Center for Women (WCCW) located in Gig Harbor, WA. The assignment is expected to last at least six months.
WASHINGTON CORRECTIONS CENTER FOR WOMEN is a 64.2-acre facility located approximately two miles from Gig Harbor. The site includes living units, administration buildings, a health clinic, education buildings, a gymnasium, a chapel, industries buildings, food service buildings, and support facilities.

Application assessment will be ongoing and the hiring authority reserves the right to offer the position at any time during the recruitment process. It is to the applicant's advantage to apply as early as possible.
- Direct chair-side assisting with the following dental procedures: Examinations, Hygiene, Periodontics, Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Prosthetics and Operative.
- Performing duties that are allowed under close supervision according to the WA Administrative Code (WAC) 246-817-520.
- Counting and maintaining all sharp and hazardous dental instruments.
- Monitor and Maintain dental equipment, dental supply inventory and logs.
- Test waterlines according to DOC and DOH policy.
- Follow and maintain DOC dental protocols and procedures and DOC policies.
- Educate and instruct the patients as deemed appropriate by the treating dentist.
- Preserve professional boundaries with patients.
Required:
Education: Must be a graduate of a recognized dental assisting program and be registered with the Washington State Department of Health.
Initial and continuous unblemished/unrestricted registration in the State of Washington as a Dental Assistant. Must ensure that registration is renewed in accordance with regulations and that proof of current registration is provided by anniversary date each year to facility leadership.
Maintain current CPR certification and ensure that proof of current status is provided annually to facility leadership.
Must demonstrate an in-depth working knowledge of dental assisting skills

Desired/Preferred:
Two years of experience working as a dental assistant.
Experience providing dental services in a correctional environment or full-service community clinic.
Experience working within the constraints of a limited health plan and/or formulary restrictions.
