The Test Infrastructure team plays a pivotal role in Engineering, providing services and solutions for Dev/Test teams to develop and test Carbon Black Products with. We’re looking for a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer who will deploy and maintain infrastructure and services for virtual, physical and public cloud Dev/Test labs. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-performing team and gain experience with cutting-edge tools and technologies.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

In the first 3 months you’ll get familiar with multiple technologies, solutions, services and tools. You’ll help troubleshoot infrastructure issues and deploy new solutions. In the first 6 months you’ll start working on your own projects end to end. By the end of the first year you’ll be an SME on the Test Infrastructure team.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Deploy, support and maintain Dev/Test infrastructure and services in virtual, physical and cloud environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues on Windows systems, Linux systems and Docker containers for services such as Jenkins, GitLab, Artifactory, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Citrix PVS, Horizon VDI, and more
  • Monitor the health and performance of all test infrastructure and resolve issues using strong troubleshooting skills
  • Implement new monitoring and alerting
  • Use configuration management tools like Ansible and Puppet to maintain consistency across infrastructure services
  • Write Infrastructure as Code to deploy and configure infrastructure, services, and solutions
  • Implement automation with Python and PowerShell to improve agility and speed while eliminating manual and repetitive tasks, such as patching, deployments, configurations, etc.
  • Identify and migrate workloads to Kubernetes and the Cloud where applicable
  • Support the extended engineering team in troubleshooting test automation failures caused by infrastructure issues
  • Support the physical machine test lab by troubleshooting issues, deploying and configuring new laptops and desktops (Windows, Linux and macOS)

Where is this role located?

This role is based out of VMware’s Burlington, Massachusetts office and is open to candidates in the surrounding area. Working remotely is fine but an ideal candidate is able to commute to Burlington, Massachusetts when needed to support the physical machine test lab.


This job may require the candidate to travel and/or work from a facility that requires full vaccination prior to entry.
