Operations Manager - Horticulture & Softscape Division

Downer Brothers Landscaping, Inc. is a full service landscaping company looking for a passionate, hard working, Operations Manager for our horticulture and softscape division. The Operations Manger is tasked with managing the essential business triad — happy customers, happy crews, and happy business. This means ensuring work is completed according to customer goals; work is organized in a manner that sets the crew up for success; and work is accountable to the company budget and metrics.

Landscape Maintenance, duties include the following:

• Daily scheduling of services with support from our Scheduling Coordinator
• Hiring of divisional staff
• Training and implementation of SOPs to ensure standards are met
• Estimating and upselling for fine gardening services
• Quality control
• Working in the field to train employees and meet scheduling targets
• Troubleshooting and problem solving for efficient divisional operation
• Ensuring service notes are taken, prepping data for billing for all fine gardening visits
• Ordering/receiving/sorting softscape materials, by job
• Creation of “Plant Palettes” to support sales team
• Organizing project management operations folders, transition sales to operations to crew
• Lay out of plant material in field according to landscape design under direction of design team

Requirements:

• Degree in Horticulture, MCH/MCLP or 5 years of relevant field experience
• Passion for the industry and working outside
• Strong pruning skills
• Strong plant and weed identification skills
• 3 years experience account management and/or managing crews
• Organizational skills
• Communication, both verbal and written
• Estimating (training will be provided, exposure and experience a plus)
• Valid Drivers License
