Job Summary
Works closely with the Parking Services Facilities Manager, AM Facilities Assistant and the entire Parking Services’ team to ensure a safe and efficient parking operation, through a commitment to the highest standards of customer service.
Responsible for walk-through inspections of parking facilities and lots to guarantee timely attention and corrective actions are performed related to safety, equipment functionality and cleanliness.
Submits documented findings to the Parking Services Facilities Manager on a daily basis.
Performs routine repairs and maintenance as needed.
Supports the UOS emergency response team during evening and weekend incidents.
Position Description
Inspects all parking garages and lots on a rolling schedule to ensure safe and reliable parking for the Harvard community. Documents all issues related to such inspections on the facilities checklist and submits them to the Parking Services Facilities Manager daily.
Performs preventative maintenance, routine and emergency repairs to all parking facilities and systems including: mechanical gate arms, overhead doors, lighting, paving, striping, plumbing, drains, fences, signage, card readers, intercoms, emergency phones and landscaping.
Responds to parking-related emergencies in the field and supports the emergency response team. Contacts Parking Facilities Manager directly to report incidents.
Inspects weekly and seasonal cleaning of all lots and garages.
Monitors removal of snow and ice from garages, lots and driveways to ensure safe and continuos accessibility during storms.
Works with the Parking Facilities Manager to communicate with University service providers, such as FMO and outside contractors/vendors to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance.
Works closely with the evening and weekend Parking Supervisors and Monitor II’s to ensure timely response to service issues.
Completes certification process of Harvard’s revenue and access control equipment.
Completes safety training requirements.
Responsible for maintaining ongoing lighting and bulb replacement surveys.
Prepares equipment and signage for University events such as commencement, student moving days and football games.
Responsible for the inventory of traffic control supplies and parking equipment.
Works some overtime as needed to respond to facility repairs and to support major University events.
Performs special project work and related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalency required with five or more years of facilities experience and/or equipment training preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work with access control equipment.
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to cultivate positive relationships with faculty, staff and students is essential.
Previous parking experience is preferred.
Experience in a college or university setting is a plus.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all types of weather.
Frequent climbing, bending, stooping and reaching, occasional work in restricted spaces and carrying/transporting heavy loads up to 50 lbs.
