Substance Abuse Quality Assurance and Training Specialist Job at Detection and Treatment Resources, Inc
Job Purpose
The Substance Abuse Quality Assurance and Training Specialist will work closely with the Clinical Director in order to work towards the development and implementation of a training and quality assurance program. This position is responsible for the internal quality assurance process, training new employees, and providing intermittent required staff trainings and evaluations. The Quality Assurance Training Specialist will participate in employee screening and the hiring process of a Substance Abuse Counselor as well as work closely with management to maintain quality compliance and continuity throughout the DTR organization.
Job Responsibilities
This position will involve but not be limited to the following duties:
- Obtain, organize, and/or develop training procedure manuals, guides, and/or course materials: such as handouts or visual materials.
- Provide New Hire training, which will include but not limited to the following: UA testing, BA testing, individual and group counseling services, and computer clinical documentation applications
- Offer specific training programs to assist counselors to maintain and/or improve job skills.
- Conduct Quality Assurance Audits of client charts in ClinicTracker.
- Implementation and Continuum of Testing Protocol throughout all DTR Offices.
- Calibration of Breathalyzer Equipment annually.
- Maintain Substance Abuse Counselor Certification renewal reminders.
- Collaborate with Management on a regular basis.
The position will include the possibility of managing a small counseling caseload and requires traveling to other DTR offices 2 – 3 days a week throughout Los Angeles County, Orange County, and Riverside County areas.
Applicant Specification
Essential Requirements
- Must possess valid Substance Abuse Certification.
- Must have a minimum of three years of experience in the Substance Abuse Counseling Field.
- General knowledge of the federal government, Federal Supervision and Bureau of Prisons, Statement of Work.
- Detail oriented, team player, organizational skills, enthusiastic to learn and teach, adaptability to new policies and procedures as they become identified by the federal government, and strong communication skills.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to solve complex problems/issues and identify creative solutions with Clinical Director.
- Valid Substance Abuse Counselor Certification Required.
Full – Time Employee Salary Range: $48,000.00 - $54,080.00

Schedule:
Monday – Wednesday early afternoon and evening shift with Thursday and Friday day shift required to meet the available needs of the clients. The work schedule is flexible and the counselor will establish their work schedule to meet the needs of the client authorized services.
