Norton Staffing & Recruiting is a temporary staffing agency based in Massachusetts. We have been providing staffing services for over 30 years and we have had great success with helping schools fill many of their vacancies. Our Education Team is looking to hire an experienced Middle School Social Studies Teacher to teach grade 8 in the Wilmington Public School District for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. The dates of this assignment will be for May 15th, 2023 to the end of the school year. The ideal candidate would work to achieve the school district's mission to educate and develop students academically, socially and emotionally to be active, civic-minded contributors to our global society by providing student-centered instruction, fostering the well-being of each child, and promoting an inclusive and collaborative school community and culture.

**Please note that we are a temporary staffing agency, so there are no benefits other than accrued sick time, but there is a possibility for the school district to hire directly temporary to permanent, in which case the school could then offer you their own benefits package. Schools can choose to discontinue working with our staff at any time.**

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Lesson plan and deliver educational instruction using the most effective and efficient methods
• Create a safe and positive structured classroom environment to promote successful learning
• Implement the approved course curriculum under state guidelines with research based assessments and assignments
• Analyze student performance data to support instruction within the classroom
• Collaborate and communicate with parents/guardians and school faculty to assist students wellbeing
• Model positive attitude and guide students in developing positive moral and characteristic attributes
• Attend required meetings as needed with school and parents/guardians
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in relevant field
• Appropriate MA Teaching License and Certifications strongly preferred
• At least 1 year of previous experience working in school setting and/or teaching Social Studies is strongly preferred
• Comfortable working with Middle School aged students (age 12-14 y/o)
• Willing to take CORI Screening and fingerprints (Norton will reimburse cost)
• Strong working knowledge of content and practice of student learning styles, including interpersonal and organizational skills, problem solving, ability to prioritize and multitask, and remaining calm under pressure
